Welcome to my Art

Forest Growth 2011
Sperry Chalet 2011

I am painting scenes from our changing and vanishing world. I am both inspired and disturbed by the images of nature around me. I am inspired by the rising sun, the morning light, clear running water, clouds, the trails of fireflies, and cold moonlight. I am disturbed by the melting glaciers, the death of the hemlocks, the loss of West Virginia mountain tops, the endless development, the inertia of our society and the inability to change our course.

The Changing World contains the paintings of the transient landscapes around me

The Vanishing World is a collection of paintings where the world is disappearing before our eyes. The Vanishing World contains the paintings from Glacier National Park in Montana and my chronicle of my visits there. The collection contains the paintings of the changes in my southern Appalachian home including the dying hemlocks and acid rain ravaged mountain tops.

New: I just returned from my 2017 trip to Glacier. I was supposed to start my trip at Sperry Chalet, pictured above, but the main building of the chalet burned in the Sprague fire the night before I was to arrive. The smoke from this years wildfires was overwhelming and I escaped to the center of Montana to escape the smoke. I hope to have my 2016 and 2107 trips posted soon.
